This is for sale on my way to work. It’s so clean looking and I want it.

The want is real.

The ‘84 models had issues with catching fire. I think you had to reroute a fuel line or a harness or something.

This is an ‘88 Formula, looks like. It’s got the same running gear as the ‘88 GT with the lighter notchback body and a cooler steering wheel.

You wouldn’t happen to be in NJ, would you? Because I have been eyeing this.

Nope, AL. But the similarities are striking.
There’s just one major difference.
This one is auto.

They just installed a guard to keep the valve cover from leaking oil all over the exhaust manifold. It was a known issue in front-mounted applications, but the lack of airflow in the back of the Fiero make it dangerous.

I drove an automatic Fiero for several years. Regretted not holding out for a 5-speed the entire time.

Yeah, auto and the price are the two reasons I’m going to stay away.
Regretfully.

Yeah, there are two others listed that are also identical save the presence of an automatic.

Around here you can get a clean 88 GT for less than $5K if it has an auto. If it has a stick, you’re looking at $8-12K depending on condition. Clean, 5-speed Formulas still show up for under $5K from time to time, though. If I hadn’t taken the summer off, I probably would’ve bought one by now.

Pretty sure I’ve seen the same one.

Formula with black five spokes? It’s on 119 near the Bruno school.

I saw it at sunny foods. I’m sure there’s a pic of it somewhere that I took with the 4runner in the background. I just can’t find it.

I constantly forget we probably cross eachothers paths multiple times per week without even knowing it.
Though you have given me a reason to double take silver 4Runners.

I like to think I’d be able to spot your Outback from a good ways a way but never actually see you.

It’s the only one with actual dirt on it though.

I’ve found myself constantly following silver 4Runners around the Oak Mountain area. I keep on thinking they’re you but I don’t think you have a Shelby County tag.
Also Toyota made too many wheel designs for those 4Runners.

Most probably have different wheels. And no, my tag # doesn’t start with 58.

There’s at least 5 different 5 spoke designs...the tri-spokes...those weird 8 spokes or whatever that I think I’ve seen on more T100s than 4Runners...
Yep, you’re probably a 1.

They had a lot but it’s possible that they used wheels from a different generation of Toyota.
And yes, My tag number does begin with a 1
